WOW!!!!! I WAS TEMPTED TO LEAVE THAT AS MY ONLY COMMENT IN THIS REVIEW BUT WHAT CAN I SAY? IT IS ONE OF THE MOST INCREDIBLE ALBUMS I HAVE HEARD FOR YEARS. BEING A FAN OF STEVE HILLAGE I HAD HEARD OF THE OZRICS BUT NEVER ACTUALLY LISTENED TO ANY OF THEIR ALBUMS SO WHEN THE CD ARRIVED I THOUGHT I WOULD LISTEN VIA HEADPHONES AS THAT IS HOW I LISTEN TO HILLAGE AND GONG BECAUSE THERE ARE ALWAYS LITTLE BITS THAT YOU CAN SOMETIMES MISS VIA SPEAKERS. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST-RECORDED ALBUMS I HAVE HEARD, THE DRUM SOUND IS INCREDIBLE, AND ALTHOUGH DISC ONE HAS TWELVE TRACKS I WAS DISAPPOINTED WHEN IT FINISHED. AS I WRITE THIS REVIEW I HAVE TO CONFESS I HAVE NOT PLAYED DISC TWO YET BUT I'M SURE IT WILL BE AS GOOD. IT IS A SHAME THAT THEY DON'T PLAY IN THIS COUNTRY VERY MUCH AS I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM LIVE. SUPERB, AMAZING EVEN INCREDIBLE I JUST CAN'T THINK OF ANY SUPERLATIVES THAT ARE SUPERLATIVE ENOUGH.

Not the greatest pair of albums I have ever heard. Sure they have groove, sure everyone can play, sure the production is up there, but what is really missing is (a) any killer tunes and (b) any form of sustained musical interest without the use of alcohol or substances on the part of the listener. The band seem to just get locked into an idea and then flog it to death while someone does pentatonic based solos over the top of the groove.

This music would be great at a party where there is need for some good rock in the background, but of the variety that is not so interesting that it makes folks stop talking because they want to hear the tune. Superior elevator music.

I can feel the negative votes coming with this review. Ah well, that is how I feel about the album. Those that have it and love it have no need to read this review.

love the music 25 Sept. 2007
By Classicfit - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This CD, like all of my other (10) Ozric Tentacles albums, contains nothing but brilliant, mesmerizing, spellbinding ear candy. No other group sounds like these musicians. Normally classified as prog-rock or psychedelic, this music is more than that. I think it also includes an amalgam of those rare elements of world, jazz and new age music that particularly satisfy the itch in a ticklish part of your psyche. It's almost as if OT reads your mind in advance of an album and includes the bits and pieces of instrument selection, beat, melody, sequence, etc. that you would have asked them to include. With the infusion of synth sound effects that you have never heard before, you will come away from the listening experience with a sense of awe and curiosity about what you have just heard. Fortunately, this music is addictive, so you will want to listen again and again, each time hearing something new. So buy this or any other OT album, stuff those ear buds as far down your ear canals as they will go, crank it up and hold on!

Incredible Progressive 10 Feb. 2008
By Peter Smith - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is a great double album to get. When I bought it I didn't realize it came as 2 CDs, it's a steal. This band is super talented and if you are into progressive music you have to add Ozric Tentacles to your library.
