While viewing the Werner Herzog documentary, "The Cave of Forgotten Dreams", my husband and I were quite taken with the musical soundtrack. So much so, that I went online during a commercial and purchased it in 30 seconds using my 1-click checkout on Amazon. Chauvet Cave, located in the South of France, was discovered by two cavers in recent history. Herzog and his team were given exclusive access to this 32,000 year old site of the oldest known cave paintings. The sophisticated artistry and 3D effects of these images were astonishing.
The soundtrack, composed by Ernst Reigseger, is at times haunting, lush, spare and sacred choir. The music is in such syncopation to the on-screen images, that it feels fluid and complete. I am not familiar with Mr. Reigseger's work, but am much captivated by this one.
