I bought this for one of my guitars but never used it. I'm sure a beginner would be happy with this strap - it does the job and it's not expensive. For me however, I found it to be a bit tacky and thought it looked stupid on an expensive guitar. It feels and looks a bit cheap, and isn't too comfortable. Would probably be more suited to a lighter guitar but will dig into your shoulder if you have anything heavy like a Les Paul.
I recommend the planet wave straps - I have a few and they look much better and are much better quality. This strap does the job and is cheap. You get what you pay for.
