5.0 out of 5 stars Make a huge difference to sound and playability 21 Feb 2010
Having bought a Stratocaster a few months back, I'v been playing with Peavey 9's and was loving the sound and flexibility of the strings. However, once I broke a pair I thought I'd give Ernie Ball's a go. The result has been fantastic, almost as if im playing an entirely different strat. These strings give the perfect brightness and tone which works well with all effects and the flexibility is already improving my playing. A highly recommended product for any guitarist!Super Slinky Electric Guitar Strings: Nickelwound 9's (.009 - .042)

5.0 out of 5 stars These do the job. 7 Jun 2009
From .009 upwards, these fellas are light, easy to bend, work well with tremolos and sound great on any electric guitar.

For Stratocaster users, they've got the 'quack' sound that is so lusted after.

They're not the cheapest strings around, but they're hardly expensive, and decent (and new) strings do make such a difference to a guitar.

Ernie Ball have been making Slinky 9s since the Pleistocene era (well, for decades) and I wholeheartedly recommend them. And I haven't ever had them go astray in the post.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great strings! 31 Mar 2011
They do the job well and have a nice sound to them. Softer on the fingers for beginners than the average slinky strings so get these if you're starting out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 24 Feb 2010
By Andi
These are the best strings I've found. Stick to EB, the cheaper ones aren't as good, but EB are brilliantly made, and I use them on all of my guitars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super String Theory! 13 May 2010
By G. WOOD
What can I say about my Balls that hasn't already been said?! Got these from Manns Music I think and they were great! A great price, great service and they are as super and slinky as they have ever been.
My personal choice for the best part of 30 years (I bought them once when I couldn't get a set of Fender Bullets and I never went back) - these strings have been pleasing the discerning ears of mod's up and down the country. Whether live or on record Ernie Ball strings have always delivered a pure biting tone that cuts through the mid's and bass frequencies of our band The Scene - clear high's and crisp and tight low's!!

GarytheMod recommends Ernie Ball Strings - in fact all he ever does is talk Ball's!!

I'd never re-strung a guitar before so armed with a couple of packets of Slinky strings and youtube I had a go.
Three lessons.
The first is do one string at a time. (apparently the guitar can literally change shape if you take all the tension off the neck in one go)
The second is DON'T put it through the key hole first. (This cuts the string .... thankfully I bought two packets)
The last lessons is know the diameter of the strings you currently have on there.

This last reason is important as Super Slinky are different from Slinky in that they are slightly thinner strings...so in turn you need to depress the strings a little firmer to make them hit the fretts or you need to lower the bridge to bring the sting height down. Either way once you know what strings suit your bridge height and play style I suggest you stick to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Strings 21 April 2014

In over fifty years of playing regularly I have NEVER broken an Ernie Ball string (unlike some other makes ), despite hard playing and much bending. They are, without doubt, the canines under-carriage!
