Product Description

Product Description

Eric lives rough in north London with Thickpea, his rat, and a ragbag assortment of the city's homeless, dispossessed and slightly smelly. Then one of their number is kidnapped, and Eric and his friends are thrown into a strange and confusing world. Who is the blond young man that keeps cropping up? How is Eric's family involved in his turmoil? And how does he know who to trust? The answers come after a series of events culminating in a deadly climax, and Eric must face some unpleasant truths.

From the Author

The story is told in a light-hearted manner, with plenty of laughs along the way. It gives a hint of what it's like to live rough, without a family or a home of your own. It tells what happens when that life is turned upside down by a family's greed. At times of trouble, friends are there to help, including the friend you never knew you had. And it shows how life is not fair, but good can be found in unexpected places.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read For All Ages!, 7 Feb 2008

I bought this book for a friend but once I started flicknig through it, I couldn't put it down! There's a great collection of eccentric characters for younger readers and a dark enough storyline for elder readers. It all comes together to a wonderful ending with a bit of a twist. Just awesome, and the illustrations are pretty good as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!!, 21 Jan 2008
This review is from: Eric and Thickpea (Paperback)
I bought this book for my cousins (7-11), and have found it an excellent tool for keeping them amused. They were delighted with the book, and I now find that whenever I'm babysitting this story is a must before bed time. The plot is exciting and compelling, with believable, well thought-out characters. The main character is someone that most children will be able to relate to. Overall, a well-constructed and developed story. A must-buy!
