Until now I have refrained,I think,from reviewing this album.I cannot refrain any longer.
This is Clapton doing what he should do...........playing the guitar and singing like a master in an absolutely effortless way.The result is the best 'Unplugged' album ever that exudes both power and charm........the blues tracks are exquisite and the 'laid-back' version of 'Layla' is a treasure.Eric.........'You have me on my knees'.

Back in 1997, when dvds were introduced into the US market, "Eric Clapton - Unplugged" was one of the first ones on the shelves. And, there can be no doubt why. This is a gem, among gems. Knowing, the immense notoriety this performance has gained, it's funny to think EC originally didn't want to release it, because he thought that his fans would not take to it. He said that he always enjoyed playing these classic, blues numbers on his acoustic guitars at home, but never realized that other people would find them of interest. Well, being that this is probably, the most popular 'Unplugged' performance from the series, I guess he was wrong. In fact, this is what inspired him to take on his next project, "From The Cradle". As good as this dvd is, I hope that Warner/Reprise will see fit to release an updated edition, which adds a DTS track, as well as extras, that include the MTV interview and unreleased tracks, such as, "My Father's Eyes" and "Circus". Both of those tracks were reworked and released on "Pilgrim", but the original, raw, acoustic versions are priceless! Incidentally, I was wondering if anyone else noticed they reversed the names of his backup singers in the band section?? Yes, Tessa is the caucasian woman. Duh!! I hope, for their sake, they corrected this on later editions! Anyway, go out and get this one. You won't be sorry!

A quote which only Clapton fans will understand, ol' slowhand is on tremendous form in this dvd. The dvd contains two of his best loved songs ie Layla and Tears in Heaven. All of the other songs were written by blues legends of yesteryear. Yet Clapton does each song justice. Only thing I didn't like about it was there was not enough of his own material on there. If you are a fan of Eric this should already be in your collection, if its not, GET IT NOW. Even if you dont like him blues fans will love this DVD. Brilliant.

If you like Clapton you can't fail to love this
This is a very 'personal' recording.....there's a real sense of 'being in a small audience' which makes it something you want to sit and listen to. Excellent

Refreshingly good
Good material, great musicians and well balanced. Thoroughly enjoyed it, although to my mind Clapton is by no means the best soloist on the planet.

Unequalled!
As a long time Eric Clapton fan I am probably bias BUT this must rank as one of the best musical DVD's of all time! A must for any guitarist!
