I'm not keen on bunnies, hearts and pastels, so I liked the bright, bold, quirky Eric Carle artwork of this album. It was a bit of a gamble as to what might be inside since the website doesn't make this clear, but I was very pleased when the album came to find the following: cover has cut-out for photo of your baby. Section 1 = Before you were born - about Mummy and Daddy, space for photos of Mummy and Daddy, about Mummy and Daddy's families, space for information about 'waiting for the baby to arrive' with space for scan picture, space to write about a baby shower and thoughts and feelings of Mummy and Daddy before the birth. Section 2 = Welcome! Includes: baby's birth story, space for photos, hand and foot prints, birth certificate, envelope for hospital keepsakes, information about what was happening in the world around the time baby was born. Section 3 = Coming Home. Includes: baby's first week, space for photos of brothers and sisters, grandparents, space to write about visitors and thoughts on bring baby home. Section 4 = Your Firsts and Favourites. Includes: some key milestones, first haircut, envelope for lock of hair, favourite things and space for photos of some of these. Section 5 = Playtime - bathtime, bedtime etc. Section 6 = Special Days. Includes a section on holidays (by which the book means Christmas etc - as it's an American book - but could be used for the British meaning of holiday too I guess), first birthday with space for photos. Section 7 = Milestones. Includes: a weight chart for the first year; health record and record of the arrival of teeth. The last part has 3 pages which are lined and headed Letters from Family. There's a little repetition in some of the prompts - favourite stories and games come up twice for example, and I'm not quite sure what to do with Letters from Family, but apart from that, I think it pretty much does everything you'd want for baby's first year.
