Featuring duets with Faith Evans, Chrisette Michele, Ledisi and Eddie Levert of the O’Jays, the eleven-track ‘Lost In Time’ is at once a sumptuous homage to and an expansion of the sweet soul of the 1970s. The album debuted at #8 on Billboard’s R&B / Hip-Hop Albums chart, while its first single, the lush ‘Sometimes I Cry’, written and produced by Eric Benét with long-time creative partner (and cousin) George Nash Jr., topped the Urban AC Chart. “I want people to remember what music is and what it can feel like; and to do that, I knew the record had to be all about the musician and the actual song,” he explains. “The desire to do that took me all the way back to that time — around 1972 through 1976 — and like a lot of others, my development as an artist is a direct result of being immersed in that era.“ To keep that connection to the music and time that shaped him, Benét returned to his hometown of Milwaukee and recorded with local musicians, including the Milwaukee Symphony’s string section. “I like loops and drum machines as much as the next person, but when it comes to something that resonates in your soul, you have to have something constructed with live musicians.” Benét followed the album’s Stateside release with a two-month North American tour with Fantasia. He also performed at the 2010 Soul Train Awards. He is now confirmed to play his first UK shows in over two years when he plays Bristol’s O2 Academy on April 16th and the Indigo2, London, on April 17th. Eric Benét debuted with the 1996 album ‘True To Myself’ and his second album, 1999’s Platinum-certified ‘A Day In The Life’, earned him his first Grammy nomination for ‘Spend My Life With You’, a duet recorded with Tamia. His 2005 album ‘Hurricane’ was recorded with legendary producer David Foster, while ‘Love & Life’ earned him Grammy Award nominations for Best R&B Album and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
