Product Description

One boy. One dragon. A world of adventure.

When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds.

Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands.

A brilliant read 20 April 2010
Format:Paperback
I absolutely loved this book. I found myself carried away by the story right from the start. Christopher Paolini made me feel as though I were travelling along side Eragon. I shared his joys, sadness and fears, etc.
I hated putting this book down each evening and couldn't wait to pick it back up again. I would recommend this book to other fantasy readers, I thought it was brilliant and can't wait to read the next one.
There seems to be a lot of negative opinions on the age that this author was when he first began this story, I on the other hand think it was a great achievement for him to have written this so young. Well done Christopher!

Being a dragon lover myself, I saw this book in my local bookstore and just had to read it. Eragon transports you into a magical yet realistic world full of elves, monsters and, ofcourse, dragons. The book kept me utterly engulfed and, when it came to stop reading, left me wanting more. The fantastic and mystical world in which Paolini creates excites and enthrawls you and, once you're in, you really can not get out of it. Eragon covers a vast range of unfortunate and unlucky situations and are projected in such a way that you feel like you are sharing Eragon's worries yourself. The book is complicated but explains clearly the world of Alageasia, as Eragon is not the only person who is beginning to learn about it. I found this book a brilliant read and highly recomend it to fantasy, action, dragons(!) and adventure lovers of all ages. The book leaves you always yearning for your next read and the abrupt and sudden ending leaves you aching to get your claws on Eragon 2 and Eldest!

Great story, a bit cheesy though
Despite the terribly cheesy dialogue and plot justifications I kept going and loved it, such a great story and really nice inventiveness. Read more
