5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE!!! 5 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I read the first book in this series, Eragon, about 6 or 7 years years ago when I was 12 or 13, and I was infatuated by Algaesia and it's mythical creatures. So when I got my kindle, I just had to purchase this as I hadn't continued the story on from the end of that book. Safe to say I was right back into the infatuation, reading these three and then the fourth in less than 2 weeks, while working almost 12 hours a day... Every spare moment (bus journeys, lunch breaks, when i got home from work) was spent reading the story of Eragon and Saphira...

There are definitely a lot of links to Lord of the Rings in here (dwarves short and short-tempered, elves tall, fair and wise, men arrogant and selfish etc. etc.) but the big difference... DRAGONS! The story is very well put together, and at the price you're paying for all these three in one, it's an absolute bargain. I will definitely read these books again (and the only books I have ever read twice are Harry Potter, We Need to Speak about Kevin, The Curious Incident of a Dog in the NIght Time and the Otori Series... read all of them as well by the way!)

Anyway, the story is great, being a teenage boy myself, I relate to Eragon quite a lot which made these book all the better for me. His relationship with Saphira is amusing and endearing at times, frustrating and annoying at others, just like any truly strong relationship should be. There are enough twists to keep the readers interested, but generally the book follows a path that most could pre-determine, but it's still fun to discover what's going on. Paolini's writing is punchy at times, eloquent at others, and downright confusing in moments, which all makes for a great book. he was 15 when he wrote the first novel, so we can't expect Chaucer...

If you liked harry, LOTR, or are interested in 'getting away from it all' and immersing yourself in a brand new world, these books are a great choice!

Thrilling journey of Eragon and Saphira. Definitely better than the film and I would really recommend it for teenage readers who are willing to commit to a long read. It is worth it!
