Product Description

Captain Janeway believed she commanded the only Starfleet vessel in the Delta Quadrant -- until the U.S.S. Voyager™ came to the rescue of the U.S.S. Equinox, a battered starship besieged by a ravening horde of extradimensional predators.
Helmed by Captain Rudolph Ransom, the Equinox has been trapped in the Delta Quadrant even longer than the Voyager and the ship and its crew show the scars of a constant struggle to survive. But Ransom and his people are hiding something as well: a shocking secret that will ultimately pit captain against captain, starship against starship, in an explosive conflict that may cost Voyager the life of her captain!
A powerful novel based on the thrilling two-part television adventure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 4 July 2000
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I thought this book was fantastic. For those who haven't seen the TV episode, Voyager comes across another Federation ship, the Equinox, under attack, and comes to their rescue, only to find that they are the agressors in this conflict. We see a rather stark side to Janeway, who wages a rather personal war against her opposite number, and we get an idea of how both crews feel about at last meeting other Federation-people after so long in the Delta Quadrant. It's gritty and quite dark at times, but the characters are true to what you see on TV, and it's full of drama. I liked 'hearing' the thoughts of the crew having seen their actions. There is also the conflict as to whether or not to use highly suspect methods to get home quickly, something which the Equinox crew want to keep hidden from Janeway and her people. Highly recommendable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another terrible Diane Carey novelization 2 Jan 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Diane Carey's original Star Trek novels were great, but her novelizations were terrible. I suppose if you liked the episode(s) you might be able to muddle through, but its quite a slog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthralling 9 Jan 2000
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I bought this novel ,as it will be some time before the television episode is shown in the U.K. I was gripped by the story from the very first page. The story's focus is on Captain Janeway's fight to bring Captain Ransom and his crew to justice, and is able to bring the emotional turmoil of the characters alive in a way that is difficult on television.I was especially impressed by how the author shows Captain Janeway's growing obsession with justice and her increasing self hatred at her own actions.I was unable to put this book down and sat up reading it through the night.A must for all Vooyager fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the episode. 27 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I had never seen this book before I saw it on Amazon, and as I had never seen the episode either, I decided to buy it. I was not disappointed. I often believe that the books of films or series are better than the actual movie or programme itself. This is one of those books. Many parts of the book is not seen in the televised episode. I would recommend this book to anyone, you don't have to be a Trekkie to enjoy it, though some background knowledge of the series may be required in places.
