Product Description

Henry Petosa and Freddy Ace are identical twins living in the fictional city of Empire with no knowledge of each other, having been separated at birth and given up for adoption.

Henry is a shy mechanic living in a slum who loves Beverly, his best friend's sister, and also baby-sits for his neighbour Rosie, a prostitute. Freddy, a driver for the gangster Mr. Paris, is slick and self-confident, married to the materialistic Sharon. One day, Sonya, who works in a morgue, comes across a letter indicating that the twins are actually the offspring of European nobility and owed a large sum of inheritance money. She decides track them down and as their two worlds collide, the twins lives will never be the same again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slow doesn't have to be bad 12 Jan 2002
By Gordon
Format:VHS Tape
View this as a whole and you will be left up, down and numb via the film's realism and gritty content. The character depth is so close to reality that you empathize with their situations. I am proud to own this alongside other work by Modine.

5.0 out of 5 stars To do or not to do 2 May 2000
By Manuel Haas - Published on Amazon.com
Two young men who could not be more different: A clumsy mechanic who will never dare make a pass at an equally shy reader of Emiliy Dickinson; and a gunman racketeering for the mob, whose wife has an incredibly bored way of adoring him. The do men have more than just an uncanny resemblance. They are twins who don't know of their brother's existence.

The gunman is perfect and successful at everything he does. The mechanic never gets anything done, because he knows that even eating a peach can disturb the universe.

That is the situation out of which Alan Rudolph makes an immensely clever, funny, thoght-provoking and touching film. It is like no other film I have ever seen, indeed its emotional and intellecutal range, its dramatic presentation reminded my of Shakespeare. Yes, "Equinox" is up there with the greats.

5.0 out of 5 stars Equinox 2 Aug 2012
By Deborah Vollmer - Published on Amazon.com
I was locked into this movie from beginning to end. It left me wanting to read the book which I can't seem to find.
Equinox is now a must see and has been added to my list of favorites. It's really hard to say what I liked most about the movie without giving away the ending but, here it goes of course, it's the twist in the end that Henry is adopted. If you have seen the movie you will understand the end if not, you really should see it. The movie did run a little slow for me for a while and the ending was not what I was looking for at all. Then again, I suppose that's what leaves you wanting more of the same. I still give the movie a thumbs up and I plan to watch it again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent. English Patient without Katherine and war 7 Dec 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Beauty. Power. Soul. Reflection. Passion. These are options when bargaining for a life. Some options are necessities to some. Worthless to others. How does one decide? This movie cannot be "reviewed" or "summarized" any easier than can a person be described in 5 lines in a personal ad. But I will say I've rented it 5 times and will again until I buy it. When I see my Lion twin in my life, I want to be looking in the mirror. But I won't be. The best Hollywood has done lately is film about "a life so changed." This film posits the terror in the knowledge of the shapeability of the self, the self that never seems to defy it's own inertia, until it sees the unmentionable...
