5.0 out of 5 stars God Forbid return with their best ever album!! 2 April 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
i have to admit for me things didn't look good for god forbid, Dallis Coyle one of the bands founders quit, they changed record labels, and their last effort earthsblood though not terrible wasn't up to much, what a pleasant surprise!

it's been just under a week but this is shaping up to be album of the year! if this isn't in my top 5 at the end of the year then i can't what to hear the albums that will.

Having started out as a death metal band with their debut "reject the sickness", turning to melodic death metal with 2001's "determination" then moving on to metalcore with "gone forever" in 2004. here everything God Forbid have done in the past but what didn't work has been filed away and what did work is here shedloads! the riffs, the melody, the big choruses this time the band have hit the nail on the head. transcending sub genre's and making a near close to perfect modern metal album (time will only tell if it becomes a classic) the band have always been somewhat overlooked but hopefully this time they will get the recognition they deserve.

worth noting is the presence of new guitarist Matt Wickland (formally of Himsa) i think in him the band have found their adrian smith, but all members are on fire on this album and every song has the perfect measure of what each song needs.

highlights include "my rebirth", "scraping the walls" "equilibrium" "cornered" and "Where we come from", if your new to god forbid you can't go wrong starting here, but also try "determination" or "gone forever"
their dvd is one of the best music dvd's going due to amount of content for your money too

4.0 out of 5 stars a return to form 27 April 2012
Format:Audio CD
i was bitterly disappointed by their last album Earthsblood. it was a mess production wise and contained some of the worst songs the band had written. they abandoned pretty much all their heavy roots, and ex-lead guitarist controlled most of the lyrics and turning it into a mellow mesh of metalcore by numbers.

Equillibrium is a massive step up from that album, whether thats because the guitarist i mentioned earlier has gone, i dont know. It's easy to tell straight away that the band took control of this album and did what they wanted. the heavyness has returned and they have taken their sound and really revved it up to a full on 11 in musicianship.

the opening track brings in some great riffing, even resembling a djent like style. the vocals kick off in a powerful style reminding you what they can do.as the tracks develop they really shft between harsh vocals throughout, to mellow and harsh to even once song being mostly mellow vocals.

lyrically, this album is a lot stronger as well and you can feel the passion in this album, really resembling Constitution of Treason and Gone Forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars God Forbid - Equilibrium 24 April 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Great album very technical, like the fact they've experimented a bit by putting some singing on the album. God Forbid live up to thier expectations with every album.
