5.0 out of 5 stars Why VHS though?, 8 April 2006
This review is from: Equalizer Boxset [VHS] [1987] (VHS Tape)
This is probably my favourite TV series from the 80's. The drama is stunning, and the issues covered were thought provoking. When this boxed set was released on VHS I snapped it up like a shot. I'm just disappointed that it wasn't followed by further sets, and surprised that it hasn't appeared as an official DVD set. Since the demise of the TV channel Granada Plus, I regularly search the internet in the hope an official DVD set will be released. Perhaps rumors of the new Equalizer movie will trigger a resurgence of popularity.

although it is not the complete series,it has enough from the series to be of interest to everyone who remembers it. to new comers, it shows the best of the four series. the show itself, was a very fast paced, sometimes violent, vigilante show, with Edward Woodward playing the part of an ex-agent Robert McCall, (assumed from the CIA, although it is never mentioned, and only reffered to as "the company") who after years of working for "the company" and doing "dirty deals" for the sake of freedom, retires, and puts himself out to hire, to not only help the little guy, but to pay a pennance for the things he has done. after meeting with the people who phone him, and using a varitey of people he has worked with, he comes up with a plan and solution to every problem.
with some good writing, good characters, good plots and counter plots, the equalizer video is definately worth the purchase price.

5.0 out of 5 stars at last, 1 Jan 2003
This review is from: Equalizer Boxset [VHS] [1987] (VHS Tape)
I was very pleased when this video box was released because I wsas looking for video`s of The Equalizer for many years.
I thought that Amazon.com did not purchase the box, but propably this is only the case for the US.
I found my copy some days ago and I was excited to see Edward Woodward playing The Equalizer for a long time.
On the box it says Volume 1 so I do hope extra volumes will be released shortly.
The box itself is very nice with 9 episodes from the 88 that have been broadcasted for several years and it is certenly worth buying this box if you are an Equalizer fan and looking for videos, like I did.
