4.0 out of 5 stars Great printer, shame about Mac compatability, 19 Oct 2007
By R. Graham (Cambridge, UK) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I bought this printer around a month ago and have been pleasantly surprised by how good it has been. I've had great results with both document and borderless photo printing, although the ink cartridges that were included with the printer are almost empty (especially the black - I've managed to get around 150 pages of text from it). However, that isn't so bad when you consider that the cartridges you get with it are not full capacity ones. After my old Epson printer stopped printing in all but black and patchy blue (I only used 'compatible' inks), I decided that I would stick to genuine inks this time, and the price of a multipack on Amazon makes the inks under £5 each - which is a small price to pay if it keeps the printer in better working condition!

The only disappointment I've had with the printer is that although it works perfectly with my laptop (Windows XP), I just can't get it to work with my boyfriend's macbook, even though it is supposed to be compatible. Neither the drivers included on the CD or the ones I downloaded from the website allow the mac to interact with the printer, so I'd be wary if the main computer you plan to use the printer with isn't running Windows!

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy user, 24 Nov 2007
By Jaymez (Derbyshire, UK) - See all my reviews
I am very happy with the printer (after using it for about 6 weeks). Small pictures sent at their original size for printing on A4 come out looking decent with with printer and the quality is much better then with my old printer (a Lexmark all in one bought about 3 years ago). Epsom inks are cheap too. The only annoying thing is that the printer will not let you print when it thinks an ink has run out (so no shaking the cartridge or printing text in blue etc) this is very annoying when a colour runs out and you just want to print a black text letter so I would defiantly suggest to always have a spare set or cartridges at hand. The only other downside to the printer is that it is noisy but my family are able to put up with it in the same room as the television. Stand alone copying is a very useful feature as are the other stand alone features. Would defiantly recommend this printed if you are looking to print images that look good (even if only occasionally)but not wanting to spend a ridicules amount on a printer.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Epson DX8400, 27 Feb 2008
By Karen Mckay (Scotland) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I have had this printer about 2 months and have been very happy with every aspect. I was a bit dubious after reading some of the reviews but for under £60 I decided to give it a go. I had CX3600 previously and compared to that, this prints so much quicker - if not a bit noisier! I have chosen to use only genuine inks and can get them for about £5 each after bad experience with compatibles with the last model. I find the inks last well and are ideal for printing great quality photo's. There is plenty of warning that inks are running low. The controls on the machine are very easy to use and it is good having the screen display. I am glad I opted for this model - I use this printer for home use but print lots and lots of photo's and it does the job perfectly. I have no hesitation in recommending this to others.
