Manufacturer's Description

Professional photographic printing up to A3
The Epson Stylus Photo R2400 is your ideal entry into professional photo printing up to A3+. With our unique Epson UltraChrome K3 ink set you get long lasting true black & white as well as perfect colour quality for professional photographs, fine art work and proofs.

Vivid colour and true black & white in one
Thanks to our innovative Epson UltraChrome K3 inks, with 3 black inks, the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 gives you an affordable inkjet solution you can rely on for perfect colour as well as true black & white photographic prints. With long lasting results on a wide range of media you have the quality, consistency and flexibility to present your images however you want to.

The third black ink - light light black - gives you excellent greyscale performance and smoother tonal gradation for the ultimate in high quality black & white printing. And the use of the Advanced Black & White mode in the printer driver enables you to precisely control the tone of your monochrome images. For colour printing, the wide colour gamut ensures that even the most vibrant saturated reds, greens and blues can be printed. The lighter inks mean that the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 gives you unrivalled reproduction of skin tones and can be used for perfect printing of watercolours, pastels and crayons. You also get remarkably fine detail in the highlight and shadow areas of an image with even, neutral gradation from the lightest to the darkest areas.

Everything in one
The Epson Stylus Photo R2400 is the digital printing solution for enlarging both your monochrome as well as colour images on a wide range of media. With results that rival silver halide, you can step away from the traditional darkroom.

Unleash your creativity
With our wide range of media you have the flexibility to achieve the same professional results in new and exciting ways. There are no limits to your creative output with the Epson Stylus Photo R2400, from glossy photographs through to borderless A3+ exhibition posters.

Short term and long term stability
Epson UltraChrome K3 inks provide extremely high water, gas and light resistance so that your printed work will last for up to 150 years - making them suitable for you to sell or use in long term displays. What's more, Epson UltraChrome K3 inks also give you superior short term colour stability so that you can take accurate colour measurements soon after printing. On suitable proofing media the colours will not visibly change after 30 minutes, making the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 a great printer for proofing.

Enter the world of professional photo printing
The Epson Stylus Photo R2400 is the ideal printer for photographers, artists, designers and even photo labs that need cost-effective professional photo quality results for lower production runs. It uses the same Epson UltraChrome K3 ink technology as our large production oriented Stylus Pro UltraChrome K3 range of printers, so you achieve comparable results at a lower investment, on a smaller printer. To help you make the leap into professional printing, the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 is supplied with a comprehensive suite of software to enhance and simplify the workflow from image selection through to final printout - even for camera RAW files. In addition, it will be supported by professional software solutions such as Epson Stylus RIP Professional, Epson AlbumMaker and Epson PageProofer EX.

Epson R2400 printer 28 Feb 2006
By JohnnyH
I have been a professional photographer for 20 years, and in the last year have been learning about digital. To get good prints you need a knowledge of colour management and that is hard to get your head round if you are not a natural born geek. But once understood and so you can synchronise the different elements of your workflow, the Epson 2400 was pretty easy to set up. It has produced superb quality colour and black and white prints, and so I have been able to control every aspect of the output. Downside is it drinks ink, but what printer doesnt as that is how they make their money. Only way round this is to have a 1480 which costs around £1500, but I dont have the money or space for one. Professional advice has told me to stick to Epson inks and paper as that keeps down the variables, as I said the art of colour management is flattening out your variables. By doing this I have been amazed at the quality which is as good as anything I could do in the darkroom. I am sold on it and hope you will be too. Was a bit more than I meant to spend but glad I did, and this is my first ever printer.

Fantastic Printer 14 Jan 2006
By pkr1771
I've just upgraded to the R2400 after happily owning the Epson R800 for just over a year. I wanted to use A3 as well as experiment with a couple of paper types that the R800 didn't support.

I've got to say that the R2400 lives up to all the claims made by Epson and I'm delighted with the upgrade. The new K3 inkset is a definitely an advance on the R800/1800 Ultrachrome inks. I see absolutely no bronzing and the absence of metamerism astonished me. The ICC profiles shipped with the printer are just about spot on, to the point that it's probably not worth getting custom profiles made. I used to put alot of effort into color management with the R800 but with the R2400 it has been easy: My prints *always* look like they do on my monitor!

There is one very small niggle I've found though, although not enough for me to drop my five star rating. My prints, especially on glossy media are prone to a fine horizontal banding if I use the Best Photo resolution. This banding doesn't go away with head cleans or alignments. However, is pretty much eliminated as long as I use the Photo RPM resolution setting - the only downside here is speed and probably ink consumption.

I have owned this printer since october 2005 and it has always produced fantastic results, with no banding issues at all. It is an extremely versatile printer, printing great canvas and banners as well as on sheet fed paper. The supplied drivers and profiles are very accurate and reliable in windows xp. Build quality is also rock solid, and for a printer that costs less than 500 pounds its a bargain.
