Having just changed over to Windows XP 64bit I needed a new printer/scanner/copier that came with suitable drivers, could be used with high capacity individual cartriges, and connected using wired and/or wireless networks. There are very few modern printers that support XP x64 so this printer largely chose itself. That said, it was very simple to install.
I installed it on the XP x64 desktop by LAN cable to the Modem (BT Hub) and followed the installation instructions and it worked. I then followed the instructions to set it up wirelessly on a Vista Premium laptop then a Windows 7 laptop, again all very simple.
The only slight question I had was whether or not to connect the laptops to printer by USB during the wireless setup. In the end I decided I would but then ended up with two printers (one USB and one Network) showing in the Control Panel. I simply deleted the additional USB ones.
The printer is very fast for text and no slouch for coloured work but of course it is not a photo-printer and photos look rather dull compared to prints from my Epson photoprinter. The printer seems to take along time on start-up. As well as being very fast in print it is also quite noisy.
The scanner section is rather good but there are no TWAIN drivers for XP x64 (for direct input to Photoshop or similar) and so you must use the stand-alone Epson scan software to load scans to HDD then open them from there.
I have not used the Fax section.
As with most reviewers, I think the pull-out paper supports are very flimsy and on the one I've got, rather unsmooth to pull out and retract. Except for the paper supports, the device feels well made.

I purchased this printer for [...] and for the price I would most definitely recommend to anyone. You can buy the inks for really cheap from Amazon, the speed in which is prints is impressive and if you need a fast and reliable scanner then this is definitely suited for you. You can scan up to 30 pages straight to an email or PDF in seconds to minutes which is essential if you need to save time when in the office. On the down side, when switching it on it can take 2-3 minutes to warm up before scanning or printing which can be irritating. the USB can take a long time to recognise my Mac (although i'm not sure if this is due to my laptop having a dodgy USB port). And, the wireless is a bit tricky to set up. I've not managed to use it wirelessly yet, but i'm not the most technical

As you'll need it if you buy one of these.
I purchased 2 for a convent, where they have minimal use. One developed a problem with the scanner carriage after a paper jam. A call to Epson was very useful ahem, they said throw it away. We got similar responses from repair centres. I took it apart and refitted the belt, took me about an hour. It worked well for a couple of weeks and the same thing happened, this time the belt had stretched and it was impossible to get a replacement. For so called "Office" machines this is completely unacceptable.
I've now installed an HP MFP Laserjet instead, same price, better quality, and loads of spare parts available.

I am a light user and I am now on my second printer, the first worked with the first cartridge then failed to print after a week, sent it back and they replaced my new one with a second hand one, this worked for a couple of weeks and I have the same problem.

There cartridges are expensive and dont last long at all.

I used to like Epson but I have ordered a Lexmark, this Epson printer is garbage and if you search the net you will see others with the same problem.

I have had 2 of these models in the space of 6 months. The first one developed a printing fault, and epson agreed to replace it. The replacement has just developed a printing fault as well, and will not print and the carriage is stuck. Both faults happened for no apparent reason. Approved epson inks have always been used and volume of printing is 3-10 pages a day. Very disappointed.

I found this Multifunction printer very useful and so easy to use, my last printer was chewing my paper when i wanted to print photos, but with this printer you can adjust to the paper quality you have. I would recommend this.

I bought this on an impulse when my Brother MFC died. These days it's just not worth the hassle of getting printers repaired.
I'm very happy with the Epson. The print speed is much faster than the Brother and it was pretty quick and easy to set up.
There is only one irritating glitch. I have my printer connected to my wireless router so it can be used by anyone. The only problem is that the Epson Status Monitor will not allow me to see the ink levels from my laptop. Epson have suggested that I need to add exceptions to the Windows Firewall, which I've done, but it still blocks the Status Monitor from working.
This is not a big deal but Epson have, as yet, not told me how to get around it. I wouldn't find this a strong reason for not buying one, especially at the current price.
