5.0 out of 5 stars A Little Knowledge is a Dangerous Thing... 31 July 2005
    By A Customer
This printer, as with all Epson printers, stands head and shoulders above the competition. As one who has done dozens of perfect 'Giclee' limited edition print runs, I have had perfect results by using the Epson 'Gray Balancer' supplied with the printer and appropiate genuine Epson inks. Tungsten or daylight (colour temperature) will ALWAYS affect the appearance of the viewed article. Convert your intended image to Grayscale, use the balancer and the genuine required inks, check your print settings and WOW! - perfection!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Yesterdays technology now... 19 Nov 2004
I bought my 2100 16 months ago. For colour pictures it's pretty good. For black and white it's utterly impossible to get prints that are balanced for both daylight and artificial lighting conditions. They don't mention this in the pretty brochure. Look on the web for all the other people trying as well! You can have one or the other but not both. Under daylight you'll get green casts, and red/magenta under artificial light. Your clients WON'T be impressed, and nor was I. Despite vast amounts of experimentation I have given up with monochrome for this printer. The new standard for mono is the HP8450, and it's also better for colour, but if you need A3 you'll have to find something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant printer BUT.......... 28 April 2013
I have to say this is a superb printer, I'm on my second one. Handles everything very well. BUT............. Epson build a chip into it which after so many prints or ink changes blocks the printer totally. All the warning lights flash and you can't use it. When you ring the helpline you are offered two options either take it to an authorised repairer who will charge about £90 to sort it or those nice people at Epson will sell you a reconditioned one. In the United States you can fix this with a download but not available in the UK. There is nothing actually wrong with the printer it's just that Epson now "build in" obsolescence. What worries me is that do they do this on all of their printers now?
