Whilst researching this product prior to purchase I was impressed by the number of reviewers who commented on how "jam free" it was. Sadly my experience was that it rarely fed more than 4 to 5 sheets of paper before jamming. I have therefore returned it to Amazon who accepted its return without question.
I also have reservations about the software supplied which implements a network capability for the scanner via a USB connection between the scanner and a separate box (the Edimax Server)which in turn connects by cable to an Ethernet network. It is not particularly intuitive as to the role this device plays and how to manage it but I particularly dislike the fact that it requires a user to disconnect from the server before another PC is allowed to access the server and thus the scanner. More specifically however, when experiencing my jamming problem, Epson Scan regularly lost contact with the scanner necessitating a power down on the scanner. I suspect their "networking" implementation was to blame.
I may just have just received a faulty unit in respect of the jams and that the product is in fact more robust than I experienced. What I am less tolerant of however is Epson taking for granted the patience of its customers and shipping shoddy software.
