I bought the Epson 3490 scanner as a Christmas present to myself and it turned out to be excellent. No trouble with the power adapter, it matched UK voltages. I had to load up the software twice to get it going but this might have been my own fault. I uninstalled the driver and reloaded the software and it went fine. I started off with what I saw as the most difficult project, scanning colour negatives on full automatic mode. The superb results just knocked me out. Having saved the scans, I mildly tweeked the colours with my Kodak Easyshare software and the final results were excellent. I had not expected a scanner at this price to be so good straight from the box, using just the basic modes. I hope I have time to experiment with the professional mode options but at the moment I can get by just perfectly with the basics modes. This is Great Value, treat yourself too!

I bought this scanner to enable me to scan 35mm film and slides for my family and friends as my previous scanner did not have these facilties and overall like other reviewers have commented I am very pleased with the scanned results, however like other reviewers have commented the scanner is noisy when in operation,but nevertheless the scanned results are impressive, and I have seen photos that have not seen the light of day for 20 years or more.

Amazon Verified Purchase
This scanner is simple to install and easy to use. It requires no more than to plug it in, place your photo on the screen and press the go button. If I'd know it was that easy I would have purchased this scanner ages ago.

How good is this scanner?
