I've lived with this projector now for around 8 months. It's, overall, a fantastic piece of kit; of course it's my first projector so I do not have any basis for comparison.
It took me 3 months to finally choose this particular model. My decision was based on price, positioning within my living room and technology. Here's a quick break down:

Positioning:
I knew my projector would be slightly to the left of my screen and as such I required the dreaded horizontal keystone correction, at least for the time being. My projector screen is around 7 feet away from the projector and at this distance and angle the projected image is about 70inches on the money. The horizontal keystone correctiona works nicely although there is some distortion with the image when using this feature. the far edge of the image becomes more blurry, but only really noticeable when plugging in the laptop - I completely forget about it when watching a film.

Technology:
LCD, although more expensive, does cut out the infamous "Rainbow" affect you can get with DLP projectors. I felt this was important as I'm susceptible to headaches and motion sickness which, I'm told, can sometimes come hand in hand with the Rainbow effect.

Full HD?
Unfortunately budget only allowed for a HD Ready LCD which at the time I thought was fine, but I must admit I do have a twinge of regret when watching HD content, knowing it's not going to be quite as crisp as it could be... Overall though the picture quality is very good.

Noise:
It does kick out a fair amount of noise and heat, this thing. The fan is placed on the right hand side of the projector (worth knowing if your intending to position it on your left - you may end up getting a face-full of hot air.

Ok you think having a dock in the back of the projector will make like easy? Noooo it does in fact make life harder! It also DOES NOT project anything that has NOT been downloaded! saying that a trip to buy a couple of items to the apple store soon sorted that and I was mirroring my Ipad, bypassing the dock !
I also had a problum with this projector, so talked to epson ! They more or less told me to get on my bike as I had not brought it from one of the recommended outlets!, a big thumbs down to EPSON

Have found this very useful for all kinds of power point presentations, laptop photos and DVDs. Ability to use straight off a USB stick most useful feature as use with teenagers who have their own laptops with different terminals/no suitable terminals. Still to try with an i pod. Need to purchase extra leads to connect to laptop.

This has been possibly our best buy of 2012 so far. Given that's we just got married, there's plenty competition. The quality of this projector is faultless as far as we are concerned. It played our slide show we had for our wedding reception with fantastic resolution. The sound that was belting out of the in built speaker was faultless. The connectivity options seems endless and, the main reason we went for it, you just put your iPad/iPhone/iPod at the back of it, et voilà! So so pleased, worth the money.

Turned up faulty when amazon contacted just offered refund, if I just wanted refund I wouldn't of purchased it in the end, had to pay epson £99 to get fixed which amazon refunded after me contacting them. The fault was the screen was yellow all the time which epson said was a big fault, which makes you wonder do amazon test thier products before releasing them. Obviously not!!!!!
