This little printer looks very expensive compared with modern designs. The reason for that is that Epson knows it is not going to make any money selling you ink. It costs almost nothing to run. A ribbon costing three or four quid should last a couple of years in normal domestic use. It is slow, and noisy, and won't print photographs, but the economy and reliability more than make up that for me. If your printing requirements are mainly for a page or two of text at a time then it is perfectly adequate, and the print quality is excellent.
Mine is about 14 years old, and I was astonished to find and they still make it! The main difference in the new version is that it now comes with USB.
