The printer does work very well. One reviewer said it wouldn't print properly and returned two. When I first printed after the test sheet I too had stripes on the printing. Then I realised that the instructions say select the correct paper setting for what you are printing as it's not pre set. The printing for photos are brilliant, really really sharp, can't fault it. The build is fairly solid but the cd tray is a bit flimsy. It is also a bit fiddly sorting the two separate paper trays, one for A4 and the other for photo paper in several size options. You also need to load the paper carefully or the roller will not pick it up.
The wifi works flawlessly and I easily linked the printer to my iPad happily printing photos from it very quickly and for some reason when I do hat, the printer doesn't need special setting, it seems to know what your doing.
The scanner is fine, nice and clear.
My only real gripe is that it was supplied with a European style power cable, I just used a shaving adaptor I had
Lying around but have requested a proper uk cable, the printer it turned out came from Spain, only took four days though.
Overall, very happy, it was under £100 when I bought it last week, epson say the price on their site it's £129.99, others are asking more than that, shop around.

The reason for giving it 2 stars, is that it prints horizontal lines on the darkest shaded areas. I've replaced the photo black, used epsons premium photo paper and had the relevant settings... but still no good. I bought this one because i have another epson (R3000) and a'lot of paper, but i think this will be the last one.
I found similar models significantly cheaper elsewhere, but went with amazon because of previous good experiences. After using it for a couple of months i do feel that it is overpriced.
The positives are it looks good and is very easy to use all the features (intuitive). It is smaller than other makes.

Yes its a good little printer, have had Epson for a few years now and have always liked them but with this one it just didn't want to print, TWICE!!!

First time around it printed the test page etc ok, then printed a couple of photo's and was surprised how crisp they were colour wise. The following day went to print a letter and nothing came out in black what so ever, done the usual clean, check etc then it worked fine. Then the following day nothing again so that went back to the direct side of that "every little helps" store and got a replacement 3 days later...

2nd time around, the same thing all set up fine printed a letter no worries, then two days later nothing but text with huge lines through it, so again a clean nozzle etc and nothing still the same and now it went through the yellow ink as well... So that's now gone back to that every little helps store for a refund...

Now I have gone for another Epson print but not this one...

Its a nice good little printer, prints photos quickly and with plenty of colour to it, but for me after twice the inks not working its time to go for something else, maybe you will have a good one but I have had two bad printers, maybe its a dodgy stock that the store had...

If you manage to get a good one that works then well done its a good printer ...

I had to replace my Epson printer which was less than two years old and I believe it's premature demise was caused by my using compatible cartridges. I chose the XP-600 as a replacement, along with a set of authentic Epson cartridges, and I'm hoping it will give me longer service. Print quality and paper handling is very good. It's smaller than my previous Epson (a PX730WD) and fits nicely into my desk arrangement.
