4.0 out of 5 stars VERY BIG EMPHASIS ON THE CLASSICAL SIDE! 4 July 2008
Format:Audio CD
In the absence of any reviews, I'll make a couple of comments on this release.
First, the orchestration is all genuine - nothing created artificially by keyboards. Full range of Classical instruments to compliment the Metal
musicians - so a genuine Symphonic Metal release!
As expected for a German act (20 plus musicians!) this is VERY teutonic in feel.
The production is very good - REALLY clear - like a standard Classical recording! Very impressed with the sound quality.
There are a lot of VERY harsh, Death Metal vocals here (think Opeth or Therion's Typhon) - You will either love them, hate them or just laugh at them!
There are clean vocals and plenty of male & female 'operatic' style vocals
as well, that recall Therion's mighty Secret Of The Runes album.
Balance - Most symphonic Metal bands still keep the Metal in the ascendency or at least a 50/50 split. Not here - The Classical/Orchestral side is VERY dominant - so be warned.
It's also a concept album regarding the famous astronomer, Galileo.
Interestingly, Haggard released an album prior to this, Awaken The Centuries, which was a concept album about Nostradamus. I think Judas Priest may just have heard of this (Incidentally, Priest's Nostradamus - what a masterpiece!)
Watch out for track 10 when it seemingly ends - leave it running for a few minutes because there is more music...
Basically ideal for fans of Metallica's S&M, Therion's Secret Of the Runes, Vovin, Deggial and Lemuria/Sirius B, Hollenthon (check them out), and Nightwish/Dimmu Borgir featuring REAL orchestras. Even Classical people might like this!

5.0 out of 5 stars HEAVY METAL ELEVATED TO ART 9 Aug 2008
By Light of Earendil - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Monumental orchestration, head banging riffs, medieval tunes and some growling vocals. I don't know how to describe this music but is simply beautiful. The title track is one crazy composition, featuring splendid soprano female vocals on the chorus, but overall a terrific journey from which you'll never return.
This is a breath of fresh air among the filthy musical garbage that pollutes american pop and rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Masterpiece from Haggard... 10 May 2008
By Ycel Aktay - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Haggard is a unique band that makes the kind of music which blends the medieval baroque renassaince music with the metallic melodies. The frontman Asis Nasseri is such a musical genius that his songs can rival the greatest sonatas of classical music.

This "Eppur Si Muove" album is no less than the previous album "Awaking the Centuries" which is their magnum opus. And this album is about the life of Galileo Galilei and other astronomical scientists punished in the medieval ages, while the previous one was about the life of Nostradamus the Oracle. My favourites from this album are "Per Aspera Ad Astra", "Eppur Si Muove" and "All'inizio e la Morte".

Not necessarily only the metal music fans, but also classical music fans must have Haggard albums because they use violin, flute and piano a lot in their songs. Their magical music takes us from our time to european medieval ages...

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Harmonized Eclectic Music 10 July 2009
By M. Mahoney - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I was not sure what to expect as I only heard one song from them. I discovered this CD to have a well thought out composition of classical, heavy metal (to a slower theme), with an operatic style. Sung in three languages, with eighteen band members, and set to Galilean history makes this a CD saturated with skill and feeling. While art/music is a matter of personal opinion, it is mine that personally I favor this CD.
5.0 out of 5 stars AND YET IT MOVES 22 May 2013

Haggard is the most amazing band I have ever heard! This album is a beautiful work of art dedicated to the astronomer Galileo Galilei and is conflicts with the Italian Inquisition. My two favorites are "The Observer" and "All'inizio è La Morte."

An unexpected fusion of classical and hard rock. " Per aspera ad astra" is a magnificent piece. I wonder why Haggard is not popular in the US. I love it.
