2.0 out of 5 stars Lots of randomness and Hardly any Earthquake! 14 May 2008
By S. Smith VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
Maybe I should have known as it was bought from £1 in Woolworths but Epicentre is a well meant but misjudged film. There are a few good stunts in it which was impressive for such a budget film but the budget cuts effect the acting (poor) and the script (poorer) and the Earthquake barely happens. The film is more about a good vs bad chase that's going on as a cop tries to nail some crime kings and just as they meet an Earthquake hits. This then ensues much running around in rubble. I didn't care for the characters but it was definitely watchable but I think I'd have got more enjoyment from a pound of chocolate instead!

2.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining rubbish! 21 Sep 2008
Format:DVD
Having read the previous review, we almost consigned this to the trash before watching, but we gave it a go.

The acting is SO bad, it's worth watching for the comical element. The plot and the script are ludicrous, but also wildly comical.

Watch as the pouty heroine does her FBI stuff in the middle of an earthquake while her hairstyle and make-up remain perfectly intact! Wow - wish I had her stylist.

Watch the sultry Russian sexpot dressed in black - she never so much as breaks a nail in all the falling masonry and flying bullets. She strides around looking menacing with a shotgun while her lipstick remains unsmudged.

The car crash down a San Francisco hill, where the hero and heroine emerge completely unscathed, with not so much as a hair out of place, a cut or ripped tights.

This is perfect Sunday afternoon entertainment. The earthquake effects were actually quite good, but we found ourselves howling with laughter throughout, which was possibly not the intention the director had.

Go on - it's worth a pound of anyone's money!

1.0 out of 5 stars Rehash of other movies. 1 Jun 2013
Format:DVD
One of the most appalling films I've ever watched, a part from the acting being horrendous, a lot of the action scenes are lifted from other movies. The San Francisco down hill chase is straight out of Eddie Murphy's "Metro" with the actors from this film poorly edited in. The Lift shaft scenes are from "Speed", I'm surprised the other reviews have not mentioned this.

The story also has characters introduced into the plot then disappear with seemingly no relevance to the storyline.

There a lot better "crap" films to watch than this!!??

2.0 out of 5 stars not what you think 31 Oct 2008

I like one of the other reviews thought that this was going to an earthquake disaster film ... er ... well it ... er ... was a disaster of a film.

Honestly if they had stuck to the idea of an earthquake and run the spy story as a side it would have been better.

There are two actors who outshine all the others by miles, and those are the kids who play Robyn and Brad (Katie Stuart and Andrew Francis). It might have been an idea to abandon the original idea completely and work out a quick story around the two kids trying to survive during and after the earthquake - but they didn't. There were so many ways that this film could have better, it is just a shame that those in charge of the production either interfered too much or not enough.

If you're looking for a film to fill a gap, one that you don't need to put a lot of brain effort into, give it a try. You might see something that I didn't.

As usual region 2 = 2nd class dvd viewers - no extras, and NO SUBTITLES

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible and I mean it! 23 Jun 2011
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love disaster movies and usually am very forgiving. BUT this movie is absolutely terrible. Please don't waste your money and don't buy it just to see if I am wrong either, you will regret it! The earthquake is a joke and the actors need to limit themselves to community theater. As for a plot... my students write more interesting stories and they are only 11 years old.
