Product Description

Game description from the publisher: Did you know that magical wizards are battling to the death ... and beyond ... right now!? "Why battle?" you might ask. "What have I got to prove, magic man?" Only who's the most awesomely powerful battle wizard in the entire realm, that's what! As a Battle Wizard, you'll put together up to three spell components to craft millions (okay, not really) of spell combos. Your spells might kick ass, or they could totally blow - it's up to you to master the magic. You will unleash massive damage on the faces of your wizard rivals in a no-holds-barred, all-out burn-down to be the last Battle Wizard standing. And it doesn't stop there! Powerful magic items bring on a whole new level of bloody carnage as you and your mighty wizard opponents tear each other limb from limb in an orgy of killing! Do you have what it takes to use epic spells in a war at Mt. Skullzfyre? Will YOU be the Ultimate Battle Wizard!?! Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre is a humorous card game depicting a vicious, over-the-top battle between a variety of comically illustrated wizards. The game focuses primarily on creating three-part spell combos to blast your foes into the afterlife. The unique Dead Wizard cards allow players to stay in the game even after their wizards have been defeated.

Fun game, love the art 5 Mar 2012

This game is a blast and fairly easy to play once you get the basics down. I love the art style, reminds me of Superjail and Adventure Time. Customizing your spells is a lot of fun and adds a compelling component to the game that makes you want to play it again and again.

The first time I played we had a group of 5, and it took about 2 hours to decide a winner. I suspect once you have the game mechanics down and start to get better at building your spells the games will be quicker. The game is broken up into matches, and you have to win 2 matches to win the whole game, so game length also depends on the luck and skill of individual players.

Like the other reviewer mentioned, some of the content is slightly risque, so yo might not want your younger kids to play, but the game does specify a recommended age of 15 and up (this is in the Amazon description, and in the game's physical rule book).

Epic Spell Wars = Epic Good Times at Mt. Skullzfyre 14 May 2012

I purchased this game on a whim based solely on the ridiculous name and 3 existing Amazon reviews. It arrived just in time for a biweekly boardgame night my friends and I hold and it was the first game we decided to play.

It was subsequently the last game we played because one match simply wasn't enough. We continuously changed characters amongst ourselves, read cards just for fun, occasionally shared a treasure card just for laughs and all-in-all had a magnificent time.

The only "negative" thing I will say about this game is that it is not for young ones. With spell components like "death wish" and "ballsy" small children should avoid becoming Battle Wizards.

Other than that, everyone should have a copy of this game on retainer if they're a regular tabletop gamer as it is sure to entertain.

Lots of fun - probably not for children 1 Mar 2012

played this for the first time last night and loved it. kind of weird artwork and names that definitely don't seem like this game should be played by children.

very easy to learn and very fun once you get into the swing of things. create spells to try and take down your opponents but even if you get killed early it has its perks because it boosts you for the next round of the game.

the earlier you get killed in a round the more potential you'll have to be a beast in the next round.

that being said, winning outright is also good.

Great Card Game 3 Jun 2012

This is a really cool card game, my GF loved it also most of my friends are not boardgamers and they love it. My only complain is that some cards have like white spots but most of the cards are in great condition. If you want a game that is just based on luck and just for fun of playing something with your friends that doesn't require a lot of thinking. I don't recommend this game for Kids because the rule book use foul language and some of the images are just gory but if you like Ugly Americans type of art then you will love it

Awesome Wizarding 3 Jan 2013

First off, I had more fun when drunk and rowdy while playing.
The pacing is very slow if you are trying to play smart, the way to fun is just picking what looks coolest and throwing it down.
It also tends to work better than playing tactical and smart.

A game with 4 or so people took about 45 minutes, for better or worse.
The art is awesome, and the game is easy to play and has depth.
If you look at the box and go "THIS LOOKS RAD" you will love it.
If you look at the box and go "Ugh" you won't like what is inside, which is the kind of dumb that only happens on purpose.
