Although this kite won't be overly powerful I'm sure it's more than enough to catch someone off guard.
I noticed that amazon links to kite killers from this page. These aren't suitable for 2 line kites (they're used on 4 line kites with handles).
I suppose they could be used but this would only stop the handle from flying away from you if you let go and NOT de-power the kite. Not recommended!
As for the kite, Well going by other kites in the range and personal knowledge I'd say this kite'd be great for a teenager or just as a fun thing to fly at the park.
Be warned also that power kiting can be addictive and if you catch the bug then this kite'll soon become childs play.

Amazon classify this kite as a toy. Believe me, toy it isn't.

The kite comes with a neat rucksack containg the various bits and the all important instruction booklet [which is actually quite tricky to follow on a beach in a strong wind].

Setting up the kite is straightforward, but reference to the instructions in a calm and unhurried way is helpful. Two differently coloured woven loops are provided for control in flight, and the flying lines are strong Dynema- breakage is unlikely in normal use. One niggle- the flight lines are only 25m long, which feels quite short for normal use. There is a tendency, particularly after a bad landing, for lines both to and on the kite to tangle. Given that they are all coloured white, untangling can be tedious and protracted.

Launching is straightforward and requires only one helper. I guess that, with practice, self-launching would be possible. The kite fills with air using a series of parallel cells, open at the windward edge.

Control in flight is predictable and smooth, once you get the hang of the dynamics of the kite. Expect a few spectacular groundings before you do. This isn't a kite for stunt flying. Once it's up, it stays up and exerts a powerful pull on the flyer. Whether this would be enough to provide lift for board sports I don't know, but it is certainly enough to make this a proceed with caution item for smaller family members.

Overall, a nice kite to fly.
