I met Shannah Jay (her real name is Anna Jacobs) years ago and bought "Envoy" because I hadn't read Science Fiction for a decade at least (at one time I read one or two SF novels a week). I started reading "Envoy" and couldn't put it aside. It is a page turner, a brilliant story. You don't need to be an SF fan to enjoy it. The book has everything you want from a novel that is meant to entertain: a marvelous plot, tension, love ... It is well written. What more do you want! A five star novel. I found Envoy by Shannah Jay quite a surprise. It's a wonderful story that bubbles along drawing the reader further and further into a treacherous world where sworn enemies are required to overcome deep seated mistrusts for the greater good. I loved it. I wasn't sure I would as I'm not much of a science fiction reader but Envoy stood out. There's a tension in this book that commences with the first line and doesn't let go of the reader until well after the last. --- From me 5 stars - I'll be back to try my luck again with Shannah Jay very soon.
