2.0 out of 5 stars Needed for HND, 15 Dec 2009

(REAL NAME)
This book is on the reading list for HND Animal management: Unit 6: Environmental management, where students have to conduct an environmental impact assessment (EIA) on an animal care establishment. The thing is this book is focussed on EIA for proposed developments: our students have to study an up-and-running enterprise. Their task is easier than the book is designed for , but they still complain they can't understand the book, as it is written in high level legalese for professional architects, planners, designers, etc, and is full of acronyms (VEC = valued ecosystem component) and weird jargon phrases like 'scoping exercise'. I'd say only about 5% of the book is in any way relevant to their assignment, but they don't have the skills to identify the relevant bits, so guess who is having to do it for them?
