Product Description

Product Description

One of todays hottest knitting trends is entrelac, a modular technique that results in striking basketwork designs of rows within rows and interlocking diamond patterns. Using only simple knit and purl stitches, knitters can create eye-catching pieces with incredible texture. Entrelac introduces both the history and how-to of this fun style, along with 20 patterns for a variety of garments, home décor items and baby accessories. Comprehensive instructions and a wide array of swatches provide endless possibilities in lace, colourwork and much more.

By Mrs. F. Huxley TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Rosemary Drysdale has written a well thought out book. This book is aimed at intermediate knitters and above but if you can knit, purl, cast on & off, pick up stitches and read a pattern then you will be able to do entrelac.

The book is split into three main sections. Section one is a basic how to of entrelac knitting. Section two is a pattern library of things that you can do to the entrelac squares - lace, cables etc. This section is fantastic for starting to design your own entrelac items and something I haven't seen in other books about this technique. Section three is a variety of patterns to show off entrelac from a long waistcoat, shawl and bags.

This book may have been published in the US so some of the terms may be unfamiliar, but metric needle sizes and tension (gauge) are given so that yarn substitution looks straight forward. But this technique lends itself to using up stash yarn anyway!

Great addition to my knitting library

Fabulous book. Easy to use and some lovely patterns to try. I've started with the different pattern swatches and I want to do them all!

Fantastic 29 April 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really love this book and find it very easy to use and understand. I have never knitted Entrelac before so started by knitting a cushion cover. Rather than knit it plain I incorporated three of the patterns and it looks delightful. I used Malabrigo Worsted - shade Orchid. I am now ready to try something else.
