Perfect support for an entrepreneur,
This review is from: Enterprise Development: The Challenges of Starting, Growing and Selling Businesses (Paperback)
If, like me, you're planning to start a new venture, this is the perfect book. I found the section on "do you have the right qualities?" particularly insightful and useful. The exercises in the sections about defining and researching the market have helped me enormously in more clearly articulating what my business will do. Best of all were the examples of successful entrepreneurs and how they had succeeded, such as Karan Bilimoria of Cobra Beer and Angus Thirlwell of Hotel Chocolat (go visit the shop in Milton Keynes by the way!) I read them and felt inspired to emulate their achievements. Overall, a fantastic book which you should definitely buy if you are interested in starting a business.

Highly recommended for growing businesses,

As an owner manager of a small business, I've been searching for ideas about how to grow my business successfully for a while. This book finally ticks all the boxes. It covers all the key areas that I need to look at and that you would expect to see(marketing, strategy, people, finance). It also has some really interesting stuff about me, my leadership style and the effect that has on the business. The examples of guys who have successfully grown their businesses and gone on to sell them are truly inspiring. The exercises at the end of each chapter build up towards a plan for growth which will take me through the next three years. It's clear these authors really know their stuff and I'm now looking at the Business Growth and Development Programme that they run.
