Product Description

Review

'Theo Paphitis tells his story of rags to riches with enthusiasm, sincerity and a surprising lack of resentment. ... you get the impression that he simply picked up what passes for business theory as he went along, mostly from the school of hard knocks and financial necessity. Enter the Dragon does impart practical advice for entrepreneurs, but almost without realising it. ... His enthusiasm and genuine excitement is almost palpable ... this is someone who loves business and loves life.' (SPECTATOR BUSINESS )

'[A] gripping autobiography that charts his inspirational rags-to-riches story ... astonishingly frank' (DAILY MAIL )

Product Description

Theo Paphitis is the outspoken and charismatic star of Dragons' Den who has turned round a string of household names, from Ryman to La Senza, in a high-profile business career that has brought him millions. Now, in his revealing and controverisal memoir, he not only takes the reader behind the scenes on Dragons' Den, he explains how he made his fortune. He also provides a masterclass in business methods that will enable anyone who reads this book to learn so much about how they too can improve their business. In the book, Theo recalls how his family moved to England from Cyprus and how as a poor immigrant, he took whatever jobs he could, starting as a tea boy for Lloyd's. There, despite the handicap of his dyslexia, he began to take the first steps on a career that would net him a fortune. He reveals the methods that took him to the top, and also provides some fascinating insight into the national game from his spell as chairman of Millwall FC. But, above all, this is a book that will provide all readers with the opportunity to learn from one of the nation's most successful businessmen and put his ideas into practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superbly entertaining and very intresting., 9 Jul 2008
By Graham Marsh (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I began reading the first chapter whilst in a book store waiting for my girlfriend to get her books and pay.

From the first chapter I was drawn into the humor of Theo and appreciated his slightly wry look on things, having been a fan of his from the Dragons Den I immediately order the book and read it in less than two weeks.

The book chapters his life from a baby in Cyprus right through to the present where he is maintaining his multi million pound business empire.

When you follow the book through, you can see the step by step choices he made in his money making decisions and how he actually became a multi-millionaire despite being acutely Dyslexic.

All in all this book ticks two category's, one its a good read and two its a good learning tool.

My suggestion, buy this book.

Enjoy

4.0 out of 5 stars Motivated and inspired by 'Enter the Dragon', 16 Jun 2008
By Leon Engelke - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have read 'Enter the Dragon', and I have found it very motivating.

I bought the book by chance, but I am delighted that I've invested in it.

My highlights in 'Enter the Dragon':

Whilst reading I could not resist the urge to highlight (literally) certain key points which I feel that I must personally address in my life. They are as follow:

1. To reach success you need to be willing to work very hard. We all know this, but through this book the writer redefined 'working hard' for me. I think I knew that I could work harder, and I feel this point has kicked me under the back side a bit.

2. Brake society's mould and be a 'doer'!: Through this book Theo's life's story made me see and example of someone getting out there, taking the responsibility and DO IT! For me personally the challenge is going to be getting rid of my salary mentality.

3. Talk to the people on the floor! I absolutely agree with his view that the members of staff on the floor will be able to give you the answer. One would have to ask them all and be able to fit the pieces they disclose together to get the true picture, but in the end they collectively have the answers. But the real point in this is that you should talk to all the people!

4. 'Have walking the street money'. Need I say more. I will be working on this. I have learned a lot about carrying a bank guaranteed check with you, and the way people's minds work then they smell the king (or was that cash?).

In his book Theo manages to place challenges that he faced in life and business into context when it comes to family responsibilities. It is great to see that business men are human as well, I can also achieve it!

Thanks for a great book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Proof that anything is possible if you work at it!, 28 Jun 2008
Well written, informative, honest and an account that told a story of how success is more than luck but is more about hard work, calculated risks and a positive attitude. Above all else I was left liking the actual person. A great read.
