Lovely book. Even I enjoyed reading this to my daughter. J was also pleasantly surprised the Roly-Poly Bird and Muggle-Wump the Monkey appear in this as they also appear in his book 'the Twits'. The various disguises the crocodile adopts to hide and capture children is quite ingenious and I think this is what I liked the most.

I've read many Roald dahl books to my children - and latterly grandchild - but this was one I'd not encountered till recently.
Aimed at around 6 or 7 year olds, this is a short, well-illustrated read, telling the tale of the wicked, hungry crocodile, whose 'secret plans and clever tricks' relate to getting hold of a tasty meal:
'The sort of things that
I'm going to eat
Have fingers, toe-nails, arms
and legs and feet'

Plenty of Dahl-type language plus characters from his other books, who foil the crocodile's attempts to diguise himself as a seesaw etc and bag a nice juicy little child for dinner.
My grandson quite enjoyed it; made for an easy entertaining read. I can't say it massively grabbed me; found it a bit forgettable and very similar to Dahl's other work.

A delight. Bought for my year 1 son who needs more challenging reading material, but I don't want to put him of with endless pages of text. The slightly larger format, and colourful illustrations keep him engaged, quality white paper means that the book looks and feels wonderful. I have gone on to buy esio trot, George's marvellous medicine and giraffe, pally and me, all of which have impressed me and my son. Fantastic Mr fox is on my wish list

Brilliant book. Typical Dahl, sinister and funny at the same time. What better subject for kids than a crocodile looking for children to eat. Quentin Blake's illustrations are typically brilliant too.

Love this book. The illustrations are on every page which makes it ideal for younger children who may get a bit bored with a text only book. My 4 year old loves it.

Granddaughter was enthralled with it both as a book she can now read herself and one she often asks for as a bedtime story from an adult
