Product Description

The Enochian angels appeared to Dr John Dee through his seer, the alchemist Edward Kelley, between the years 1582 and 1589. Enochian magick is the art of summoning and commanding angelic beings and demons, and this book describes Dee's system in its complete and original form.

From the Author

Complete overview of the original system of Enochian magic.
Most books about Enochian magic examine the version created within the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The original system psychically dictated by the Enochian angels to John Dee through his crystal gazer, the alchemist Edward Kelley, has until now only been available through copies or reprints of John Dee's magical diaries, which are extremely difficult to read and understand. For the first time the complete original system is presented in a logical format. Numerous mistakes in Dee's diaries and occult diagrams have been corrected. The complete history of Dee and Kelley's relationship with the Enochian angels is detailed, along with the techniques of magic they used to communicate with the angels. By understanding the structure of Enochian magic, it has been possible to suggest certain extensions to the system, which was left incomplete at the death of John Dee. Anyone wishing to learn what Dee and Kelley did during their ritual angelic communications, the content of the actual system of magic dictated by the angels, and the strange moral influence exerted by the angels over the minds of these two men, and their wives, will wish to read this book. In my opinion (as the author) it is the first clear presentation of the complete scope of Enochian magic.

My knowledge of enochian magic is mainly from the interpretion of these revelations via the GOLDEN DAWN. However Tyson makes it clear this is only half the story, based on part of Dr. John Dee's writings which were found after his death. Other writings found later give a fuller picture of the alleged angelic revelations. This is an excellent book which includes the Golden Dawn Enochian interpretation. Finally, the book's title may give the impression the subject matter is simple. IT'S NOT. IT'S EXCELLENT VALUE.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

4.0 out of 5 stars Not so bad....but OK, 8 Aug 1999

There was some stuff that was hard to understand. But I guess it was me. As for a beginner, I believe this book is a good source of Dr. John Dee's and Edward Kelley's works. It shows the basic knowledge of Enochian Magick. Although it WILL TAKE AWHILE TO ABSORB THE INFORMATION. There is a lot of information in this book, and it may even take as much as reading the book twice or so to understand the basic concept. Enochian Magick is very complex and I believe the author probably had a hard time to organize the information but I think he just did fine. I recomend others to use "Enochian Magic: A Practical Manual" along with this book to get a good introduction to the complex system of Enochian and the Angelic Magick.

there is a great deal of info in this book concerning the system of magic taught to dee & kelley by the angelic guides, and this book is very interesting, but this is very complex ritual magic and not as the title suggests for beginners
