Book One in the Love and Light Series

Loti Dupree is about to learn that karma’s a bitch. After her husband’s sudden illness and mysterious death, ominous nightmares and psychic attacks have her running for her life—and straight into the arms of a dark and broody vampire called Wolf.

In his world of closely guarded secrets, every answer she uncovers leads to more questions. Sexy distractions teeter between dangerous and too good to quit, while Loti struggles with both losing and finding herself in the arms of this mysterious creature. When the attacks intensify and friends become casualties, she must face the truth whether she wants to or not.

Someone out there will stop at nothing to kill her and only the vampire named Wolf and a destiny she isn’t prepared to embrace stands between her and an early grave.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it 27 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Loti Dupree is grieving for her husband. She feels she can never love or feel anything again.
She decides to take a break from her everyday life and go on a spiritual retreat with her best friend.
This retreat will take her on a journey of discovery full of mystical beings and power unlike she ever knew possible.
I like a book that challenges me to learn. Throughout this book I found myself going off and researching the unfamiliar terminology.
At first I thought this book was just going to be about spiritualism and nothing more but the introduction of mystical beings and magic brought a surprising twist and I found myself enjoying the parts I didn't really understand.
Although a book about finding your true self there is a beautiful love story surrounding it.
The idea you could find enlightened vampires is new but also fun to read. It challenges your perception of how a vampire should be.
The characters in this story although strange fit really well together and create a story that flows so well you feel you are there with them.
Although some of the dialogue was unfamiliar to me I didn't feel overwhelmed in any way. I liked that it brought a new vocabulary for me to learn.
The term `never judge a book by its cover' is essential to this book. This is an intriguing story giving the paranormal on whole new destination. I would definitely recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written 28 Oct. 2012

Author Melissa Lummis' debut novel Enlightened is nothing short of amazing. I found myself drawn into Loti's world right off the bat. Her journey was enthralling.I'm a sucker for a good witch/vampire story, this for sure did not disappoint. But be warned, if you're looking for a formulaic story that's been told time and time again, this book is not for you. Be prepared to fall in love with Melissa Lummis and the world she has created. I very much look forward to the sequel to this book, because I have to know what is going to happen next!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's like no other book I have read...and I LIKED IT! 5 Dec. 2012

My Review: 5 Stars, 3 Flames
When I read that Enlightened (Love and Light Series) was kind of in the Yoga/Hippy/Guru business, I was not at all sure about reading this book even though it has my beloved Vampires in it. Boy am I glad that I did not walk away because Enlightened is like no other book I have read...and I LIKED IT! Basically, Melissa takes your hand and pulls you into her version of the supernatural world...and it's a series! ;) Beware though because once you start reading it, you will not be able to stop! Yes, it is that intriguing.

The Good: Loti is not only the primary character but she is an exciting and fresh one. She was incredibly relatable. The secondary characters help the story progress and Loti to grow. I loved being surprised each time I turned a page and found some new and dramatic event. I really enjoyed how Melissa interwove some Ghandi quotes as well. It somehow seemed, well, right to have them in this story. I also loved the ending. It felt complete when I finished it but not without some ready tie-ins for the next book in the series. This was just some incredibly good writing.

The Bad: Bad? What bad? I literally have no complaints.

The Snuggly: Wolf and Loti falling in love is a very tender and emotional story. Their feelings for one another draw you into their love as well, in a way I have not previously experienced. It is a truly special event. And the sex? Oh the sex was just fine, thank you very much. Descriptive without being raunchy, it is an important piece of the puzzle for Loti and Wolf.

The Rest: As a debut book for author Melissa Lummis, I was unprepared for the depth of character and creative thinking that I found in Enlightened. It is a book that can be read over and over and I am sure will never become dull. I would not recommend this for anyone under 18 but the rest of your paranormal romance lovers out there, this is most certainly the book for you! 5 Stars, 3 Flames

I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Enlightened

Lisa's review of
Enlightened
By Melissa Lummis

I received a copy of Enlightened by Melissa Lummis in exchange for an honest review. This was the debut novel by the author and she does not disappoint this reader. I enjoyed the development of her characters as a reader you were able to follow along the story line with ease. Each and every character helped to increase the dramatics of Loti's story. It was hard to put the book down in which to deal with real life day to day activities. So my sons dinner was late mommy was reading. I look forward to reading more in the series to to see what happens next. I especially enjoyed the beginning where Melissa incorporated some of Gandi sayings. It showed that she took the time and effort to research some quotes that helped to give substance to her book. Thank you for allowing me to read your first book and cant wait for more. I highly highly recommend this book by Melissa Lummis.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mostly Eastern Metaphysics 25 Jan. 2014
By Vampwriter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If new age Eastern Yoga and Earth magic is your thing, then this book is for you. I did appreciate the overall goodness of what little vampire action was in the book but felt the attack on the female camper was totally out of character even if she was left alive. Nothing was said to explain the reason he had to take her blood...it made no sense to me. This was not my cup of tea (or blood).
