This is essentially a love story, of partings, regrets, love finally finding fulfillment, and then tragady, and finally trying to find out the truth, (unsuccessfully) of what happened to Irene Young's beloved husband.Be prepared to shed a few tears.

Beautifully written book. I'm not a fan of biographies, but this evocative of a time gone by and such different social mores. I was recommended to read it by someone involved with the "old girls" of Esdaile School (Irene Young's alma mater) and I thank her for the recommendation. We forget what sacrifices were made for our freedom.

A moving and informative read with a sadness of the time.

A personal account of Irene's years at Bletchley Park 20 Jan. 2015
By Gladys Lyons - Published on Amazon.com

Irene Young is a bright and talented woman who wrote her story about her years at Bletchley Park with great insight and sorrow. She deserves recognition for sharing her story and I am proud to say that she was a friend to me. I recommend her book to anyone interested in the Enigma project and how it resulted in ending the second World War years before it would have otherwise.
