NY I love it!,
This review is from: An Englishman In New York (Hardcover)
The last few years have seen a proliferation of books on landscape photography. It is great to see some tremendous portraits taken in the most photogenic city in the world. The real blessing is that the city is very much in the background and the people are centre stage.
A great book thoroughly recommended.

I saw the exhibition of Jason Bell at the National Portrait Gallery in London and I loved it.
Bell is a great portrait photographer and the city of New York adds even more charm to these images.

Splendid exhibition and a book to match,

Just seen the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery and loved it. I am a big fan of New York - pretty much lived there for two years - 1999-2001 - and found every day I experienced something new - in Soho, Central Park, Greenwich Village, Brooklyn, Century 21 - wherever. The city was a delight and so was learning how Americans live.
The book is wonderful not just because of the great photographs - although they are great - but to have spelled out the varied English reactions to the city and what they cared about and respond to. And what they missed about England - so many say the English sense of humour and I do know exactly what they mean! A worthy buy for the photography fan but also for anyone who has enjoyed a wonderful and rewarding city..
