I bought this to help me with my poetry exam and all I can say is that this helped me boost my overall grade. Without it I would have been screwed on the unseen parts of the exam, this book goes into detail how you should analyse and answer the exam questions.

I hated English and never wanted to do it, but hey, we all at some point had or have to do some English papers, and so because of that, I would strongly reccomend this revision guide. Before my English Literature exams, I was not doing too well at all, as I was borderline D/C grade. After reading through this revision guide, I knew how to answer questions properly, and what was required of me in order to receive a good grade. And because I did so well in my last exams (Due to the revision guide), I jumped from a D/C to a B in English Literature GCSE. I don't for one moment regret buying this revision guise, and will also suggest that even if you are getting D's, you may be able to get a C or above with a strong willpower to revise.

5 Stars all the way, and hope this review helps many others who will be taking their English Literature exams in the future with AQA.

A useful guide that gives tips on how to analyse unseen poetry, giving features to pick out with an annotated example, essay plan and model answer. There are a range of different poems to annotate yourself with questions to test your understanding. The final two sections consist of exam advice and sample exam questions.

I found this guide helpful as we hadn't analysed poems outside our chosen cluster at school, although I thought there could've been a few more annotated examples and model essays for this reason. The tips on structuring your essay and planning it are useful, as is the glossary.

Overall I didn't find this guide as useful as the 'cluster' study guides, but would recommend it on the basis that it still helped towards improving my understanding of unseen poetry and exam technique. I also made the mistake in not realising the answers (annoyingly) weren't included in this guide, but they can be purchased here GCSE English AQA Unseen Poetry Answers (for Study & Practice Book) Higher

Useful but not comprehensive enough for Higher Level students. It is a good starting place for those who struggle with this part of the course.

I enjoyed sharing the variety of poetry with my students, and found the questions on the opposite page to the poem stimulated responses in a one to one situation.
