Product Description

English Legal System is the best-selling text on this subject, providing a clear and engaging account of the structure and mechanisms of the law in England and Wales. The authors skilfully blend an accessible style with a broad analysis of the subject, making this the definitive introduction to the area and the first choice for students year after year. Annually revised and fully updated, English Legal System continues to keep on top of this constantly evolving subject.

"The book has several strengths welcome to students and lecturers alike: up-to-date, well-written and comprehensive. It provides clear exposition of the central themes whilst the delightful layout makes the information readily accessible."
Dr. Jackson Maogoto, Senior Lecturer, University of Manchester:

“The book is highly accessible and easy to understand. It’s use of pedagogy is excellent and the text’s features significantly aid student comprehension.”
Lee Roach, Portsmouth University

"I think that this book has a clear written style that is easy to read, is understandable and places the material at the right level for the students. This is a first year subject so presenting the student with the right depth of material is important."
Tim Connor, Bradford University

Whilst studying for my A levels, this book proved invaluable in my revision and definatley helped me get an A grade in my A level Law exam. The reason why the book is so good is that Elliot & Quinn have broken down the English legal System in an easy to understand method which explains key essentials in a basic format initially .then progressing to an easy to understand but more detailed version of the basics which have been grasped in the initial chapters. Constant examples and references to cases prove invaluable in understanding legal theory and application of facts. The best part however is the way Elliot & Quinn have mentioned how elements of the English Legal System can be reformed. This book is not just a book you read during your A levels and put aside afterwards, it is one you will be constantly using as a reference source. I have just started a degree in Law and I am still using this book.

This is an excellent example of how academic textbooks should be. The text is engaging, the format is inviting, and the content is neither to explicit nor too superficial.

The authors split the book up to address each topic in the English legal system as individual entities. At the same time, all cross refereces are clearly indicated and explained meaning that as you read through the book the overall pictures is also being built up.

As a future Law student I found the book particualarly useful, becasue even having no current knowledge of the legal system, I was fully able to understand all the concept from the way they were explained.

An excellent book, that should be included in the library of anyone who has even a passing interest in the legal system, and especially of those studying Law at 6th Form.

I studied A level Law about 5 years ago, using this as my only text book. It is very well written, clear and concise (and most importantly, interesting!) and it is updated regularly to include nearly everything you may be examined upon for your A level Law. My class was proof that it works- of the 15 of us
who were studying, 10 of us obtained an A grade, 3 a B grade and 2 a C. Obviously we all worked hard and revised, but it was this book that made revision so much easier. I just wish that Elliot and Quinn wrote all Law books!
