The large 'Notes and Sources' section in this book has been well researched, is both helpful and interesting and adds very much to the enjoyment and understanding of the tales themselves, inspiring the reader to want to find out more about how such tales came to be invented and compiled. It is also helpful that the county of origin is given for each tale. Since one of my earliest memories is of my mother relating the tale of Tom Tit Tot to me, I was delighted to see that, in the book, my native Suffolk has been designated as its county of origin.
