More About the Author

I trained as an artist, photographer, and map maker and use these illustrative skills to make easy to understand books about my favourite subject, English buildings. They are aimed at people who might be renovating, tracing the history of or just interested in local buildings, with clearly labelled drawings, diagrams and photos, specifically produced for each book, making them popular with beginners in the subject and students. They are published by Countryside Books who focus on value for money and hence most of my books have listed prices from only £4.99 - £9.99.
There are around twenty of my titles available on Amazon including a series on period houses from Tudor times through to the 1950s, famous buildings like Abbeys, Castles and Country Houses, and other subjects as diverse as narrowboats and gravestones!
I was born in Sussex in 1966, and currently live in Leek, on the edge of the Peak District, with my wife and two children. More details on my website: www.trevoryorke.co.uk

I became fascinated by church architecture even as a lad. Even though non-religious, my particular admiration for the work of John Betjeman has enhanced that interest over the past 20 years, or so.
This small volume, by Trevor Yorke, is just about the best value you will find in ANY book. It is brilliantly assembled: packed with chronological history, details of architectural features, with glossary of terms - and with superb photgraphs and easy-to-read diagrams - this is a 'must have' for novices and the more seasoned investigator alike.
Unbeatable value, not least for its information. A marvellous read that will get you hooked.
Buy it.
