Product Description

Product Description

Engineering Systems provides a solid introduction to the basic modelling of engineering systems for those students from a low-mathematical and physics background. Taking a multidisciplinary approach, this text crosses the traditional subject boundaries within engineering by drawing on examples from several different specializations. Through worked examples, highlighted key points and self-assessment questions, the book explains the basic theory of system modelling and control and applies it to the engineering field. Topics covered include translational and rotational mechanical systems, electrical and electromechanical systems, liquid systems, thermal systems, simulation, transfer functions and the Laplace transform, first, second and higher order systems, feedback and control, and state space models.

Ideal for first and second year degree and diploma courses in electronic, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, civil and chemical engineering.

I am an Msc Embedded Systems student with a strong interest in modelling, simulation and control of physical dynamic systems but without a rigorous background in mathematics and physics.

I had nearly given up my search for a good book which would cover these fields having loaned around fifteen titles prior. Stumbling across this book has been a godsend.

If you, like myself don't have time to catch up on 5 years solid study of mathematics and physics yet would like to be able to model, simulate and control your own physical systems then I would thoroughly recommend this book. The only problem is that anyone who reads this review will have already read this book and therefore know how great it is, and as it was published over 10 years ago, I fear few people will ever come across it.

Its a shame this title is only digitally printed on demand, I might just have to tell my library I lost the book so I can keep their copy and put it in its rightful place on my bookshelf where it shall proudly stand next to such infamous titles as The Art of Electronics and The C Programming Language.

This book walks you through near all the material for a "basic" systems and control course.

The book assume very little previous knowledge and everything is clearly laid out and explained.
I wouldn't have thought of buying this book but it's so good that the 8 copies my university library has are always out.
