This is the first book by Jade Lee I have read and I loved it.
What I really liked, was, that it wasn't about the beautiful heroine with the perfect figure who finds love with the handsome titled gentleman. Don't get me wrong I've read plenty of those historical romances and loved reading them. But it was a refreshing change to read something a little different.
When Anthony Pierce finds a young woman who he mistakenly thinks is the cook, in his employers' kitchen, he is immediately drawn to her. Although he notices that she is a little plump and badly dressed and not the usual type of woman he would be attracted to, all the same he is definitely attracted to her.
He sees from the beginning what other people don't, a beauty that comes from within.
When Francine Richards, the daughter of a wealthy merchant first encounters the son of her father's accountant, she lets him continue to think she is an employee of her father's.
Just for a little while she wants' to feel normal and not worry about her father's plans for her, which is to marry her off to a title.
When Anthony finds out who she really is, it's too late; he has already fallen for her.
Things can only get worse after a visit to a dressmaker transforms Francine into a beautiful woman and others begin to see what Anthony had from the start.
He then sees his slim chance of having the woman he loves slip further away from him.
But Francine is determined to marry Anthony and will do whatever she has to in order to achieve that goal.
This is part of a series, which I didn't know at the time and so it would be better to read them in order, but it didn't spoil the story and I definitely will buy the others in the series.
