Product Description

Product Description

There is growing interest world wide in the field of mind-body medicine and the effect which the natural energy forces within the body play in the maintenance of normal health and wellbeing. This in turn has led to interest in how these energies or forces may be channelled to assist in healing and restoration to health. This book, written by a well known scientist with a degree in biophysics and a PhD in biology, brings together for the first time evidence from a wide range of disciplines which is beginning to provide an acceptable explanation for the energetic exchanges that take place in all therapies. "Energy Medicine" provides an exciting and challenging read for anyone who may be interested in or curious about the therapeutic aspects of energy. It provides a stimulus to discussion among both the sceptics and those who are already convinced of the healing potential of body energy.

By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I had my first 'energy experience' in 1993 and have been fascinated by the topic ever since. Over the years I experimented with various different techniques and eventually qualified as a Reiki practitioner. I have however, been looking for ways of explaining my experiences and those of my patients in scientific terms and to understand why western medicine has failed to grasp what millions of people around the world have already experienced first-hand.

In this book James Oschman pulls together threads of research from different branches of medical research as well as other areas of science and puts forward theories that might explain some of the phenomena found in 'energy medicine'.

I found the book fascinating from start to finish; it opened my eyes to many other alternative therapies and the growing body of scientific research that is being conducted around the globe, which is gradually finding pieces of the jigsaw.

Is this book for everyone? Probably not. But if you are involved in mainstream or complimentary medicine then I would recommend it without hesitation.

In this very readable boek Oschman introduces us into a neglected (forgotten?) world within medicine. Every sceptic of energy theory as used in complementary medicine would have to agree with him on at least one point. Biology considers the human body to be a chemical composition and directed by action potentials within the nervous system. Understanding activity of organs and muscles means understanding neural (and hormonal) signals. These result from the flow of charged molecules and ions: electric flow. Basic physics teaches that electricity is always accompanied by a magnetic field. Oschman proposes that such magnetic fields are not just by products but actually contain information and as such regulate many functions. The amount of evidence he presents is impressive and it is impossible for anybody with a logical open mind to neglect his ideas and serve them off as quackery.

A book for sceptics 24 May 2004
Format:Paperback
The sound scientific principles which underpin the ideas expressed in this book make it ideal reading for any person who is sceptical about the scope and potential of energy medicine. For those who are already convinced this book provides a firm foundation of knowledge.

The arguments are put forward in a clear and concise style making them accessible to the layman but, at the same time, the notes provide further indications for those who would like to explore the topic further.

In my view this is one of the best books to have been published in this field in recent years.
