Product Description

Product Description

Short, illustrated fiction from Stuart Williams and Louise Cox

"When the last of his neighbours quietly disappeared the boy was drawn to the looming old Church on the outskirts of the village. There were no warnings, no build-up of a new mystery illness. There were no bodies and not so much as a hint of an imminent war - just a gradual dwindling away of everyone he knew, until he was the only soul left..."

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST READ. 6 Mar 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Haunting and beautifully written. You find yourself hanging off every word, thirsty for more. The story is terrific and powerful, and could very easily made into an epic of some description, but perfect just the way it is. A definite must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Cultivated. 11 Jun 2012
By Keano
Format:Kindle Edition
The stark, unsettling front cover illustration is a visual clue to the spell-binding tale that awaits within. Williams clearly relishes the challenge of the short story medium, and his lean, confident prose certainly packs an emotional punch in the fifteen or so pages of this mysterious read. Without giving too much away, i would describe 'Endling' as a mixture of the raw loneliness of Cormac Mcarthy's 'The Road' with the magic realism of Neil Gaiman's 'Graveyard Book'. Impressive stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Craft v. Art 1 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Many writers are craftsman. A few writers are artisans who can stand outside their work and let the art be what it needs to be. Using the short story as is medium Stuart Williams is one of those writers and his art shows in the short story, "Endling." Short, interesting, and like I said the work of an artist, who will take you to a different world for fifteen minutes. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Emotive Tale 3 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Such a beautifully crafted piece - the premise could easily carry the story through an entire novel, but the short story medium allows the tale to make an impact on you and leave you wanting more. A Mysterious and ultimately emotional story, wonderfully written and with a poetic romanticism that you don't see so often these days. In short, a terrific tale and a bargain to boot!

The writing is so tragic and beautiful at the same time. I really love the way the writer captures the imagery of the seasons creating huge suspense, this aspect reminds me somewhat of Keats 'To autumn'.

So atmospheric, a must read!
