Product Description

Jo Whiley, Radio 1 DJ

'It's the perfect stocking filler!'

Product Description

This is the perfect gift book for those who want to know the meaning of life or the fastest running speed of a chicken. It is based on the questions texted to "Any Questions Answered (AQA)", number 63336 in the UK (57275 in Ireland), and the answers given by the service. For example: Q - How many baked beans would you need to place end to end to reach the moon? A - The moon's average distance from Earth is 385,000 km. So it would take 32,033,583,333 baked beans, end to end, to reach the moon. Q - What are the three English words that end in GRY? A - There are only two common English words that end in GRY: angry and hungry. It is a well known hoax if someone asks you to try and find the third word. Q - Is it normal to want to have sex with a dog? A - It is normal to be sexually attracted to a dog, but only if you are a dog yourself - in which case AQA is very impressed by your ability to use a mobile phone. Q - What is the opposite of a camel? A - The opposite of a camel is a soap dish. Quality examples (not the octopus sucker sort) have dips not humps, and most of their time is spent around water.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most entertaining little book I have ever read!!!, 11 Oct 2006
I came across this charming little book in the loo at an office I was visiting yesterday.

It is a summary of the best questions that have been directed towards the AQA 63336 text based information service (you text them any question under the sun and they reply immediately with the answer).

There are some really bizarre and challenging questions in there, but to be honest, I found the answers from AQA were brilliant - funny & insightful.

This book is a great buy as a stocking filler at Christmas or something to store by the loo.

You will learn about a whole range of subjects, it is very funny and it is an interesting sociological snapshot of what is preying on the country's collective mind.

Probably the best 5 pounds you could spend at Christmas - I have just ordered 10!

Buy it and I promise you will smile and learn something!

5.0 out of 5 stars People on the train tried to steal my copy!, 1 Nov 2006
By JimW "Poet" (Suffolk, UK) - See all my reviews
Its a pretty simple idea. You ask questions, you get answers. I hadn't heard about the service before, but I'm sure they've struck a rich gold seam in putting out this 'best of' compilation.

I bought this book after some of the questions and answers were read out on radio. Travelling with some friends on a train, we were in hysterics as I read out some of the questions the public have asked.

The journey ended up with several people in the carriage asking to see the book (I should be on commission!) and one very cheeky lass asking if she could 'borrow' it. Of course I said no, but I got her phone number.

It's a bargain. Don't wait until Xmas just buy a copy now. At the very least, you could end up with a date.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 29 Nov 2006
By Mr. R. Lakhani (London) - See all my reviews

Having used the AQA service for a while, I looked forward to reading this book, after seeing a write-up in the Daily Mail. Now these guys must have paid a lot for the "rave" reviews, because I can't see anybody endorsing the book without money changing hands!

The style is sloppy, I spotted a few typos throughout the book and the font used makes the whole thing quite awkward to read.

To top it all, I don't even see any logic to the sections. There are a million and one other books on the market of this ilk, all of which are probably much more amusing.

The New Scientist have brought out their Why Don't Penguin's Feet Freeze, which is in the bestseller charts, as is 82ASK's book Do Sheep Shrink In The Rain. Even these books' titles are more appealing than The End of The Question Mark!

I'm really disappointed by this one - particularly as I was anticipating a funny read from the AQA people.

Oh well. I suppose, as a loo book, it's one flush away from being a distant memory!
