I'm really surprised by the other review's to this title, because I throughly enjoyed the movie. OK, its 100% TV-movie fayre. The are no amazing set-pieces and everything looks a little 'cheap' but there are some big names starring including Cuba Gooding Jnr (Oscar winner), Anne Archer (Oscar nominee) and James Woods, all of whom manage to pull the film up and onwards!
Basically, the story center's around the assination of the US president (Jack Scalia, of 80's Dallas-fame) an event which Gooding (as personal security) should have prevented (but didn't). He become's involved with a reporter (Angie Harmon - who? Never mind) who thinks that there is more to the story and the pair go through all kinds of twists and turns trying to figure out the what, why and when of the plot, all the while attempting to keep ahead of evil, shadowing killers to want to do them wrong... its all very similiar to 'In the line of fire', the 90's film starring Clint Eastwood, only this one isn't so 'big screen'.
I must admit the end is ever-so slightly muddled, although it does have a very nice twist which allow's Anne Archer to come in to her own. Overall, I'd give this movie an 8/10 and recommend that you give it a try (especially due to some of the price's that Marketplace traders are selling at, I picked my copy up for under £2 - not bad!).

I picked this up having read the credits and seen the likes of James Woods, Anne Archer and Cuba Gooding Jnr - expecting a really good thriller. After the first ten minutes of absolute wooden acting I realised what a mistake I had made! The acting goes from bad to worse - even Cub Gooding Jnr cannot save the film. The action scenes range from completely confused to ridiculous. The pretentious ending is made even worse by Anne Archers apalling wooden acting! Take my advice - go to the dentists for a few hours rather watch this film!

I picked this because of the plot outline on the back, the big names in it and the low price - deciding to ignore the fact that there were no review quotes on the box. First few minutes were OK but the total lack of realism in the plot soon became obvious. e.g. The President is assassinated, a news reporter discovers where the assasin was living and enters - spends 2-3 minutes looking around, not bothering to read papers strewn on the floor etc and then leaves apparently not thinking to immediately inform the police. One of the bodyguards wants resource to confront possible group behind assassination and is told that it might take a couiple of days to sort out. All in all there was no chemistry between main characters, plot was totally lacking in realism and there was no atmosphere to get across likely impact on public and law enforcement etc if something like that really happened.... To me the 'twist' was fairly obvious - especially as no other possible motives are really mentioned/pursued. I watched it to the end just to see what happened - but really should not have bothered.

Slow Start

Enjoyable romp of its type
As with most spy movies there has to be a certain acceptance of the incredible and possibly unbelievable. This is the case with this movie. Read more
