5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best AFV Encyclopedia to date. 3 May 2003
I already own many volumes on the subject but this has to be the best overall encyclopedia to date. Deals with the tanks and AFV's country by country, class by class and date of introduction. The text is well written and informative and there is an excellent glossary of terms at the end. It is very well illustrated with many photos, plates and cutaways. There are many specialist books in this field but if I could only own one book on the subject this would probably be the one. Plus you can get it at a great price from

4.0 out of 5 stars Best so far 16 Aug 2010
By Rokkit
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is the best book on the subject I've come across to date. There's a lot of detail included which is invaluable for enthusiasts. A good point is that it contains details of many rare or prototype vehicles, some of which I've only rarely come across in other publications during my 30 odd years of study of the subject. It also has tanks,APCs,armoured cars,SP guns and tank destroyers all included. A few negative points however. There are some glaring omissions of some of the more common vehicles which really should have been present in such an otherwise comprehensive collection, and some of the images are of completely the wrong AFV being described in the text. Also there's quite a bit of unnecessary waffle in the descriptions of the modern AFVs such as "the hatch opens to the left" etc, which gets repetitive after a while. Altogether though, a very good buy.
