The first thought that went through my mind when I was able to look at the book for the first time was - WOW!

It is a well written guide with pages and pages of beautiful pictures to get inspired by. And I found it very easy to read as well. The description and growing needs of every plant and flower is written in a simple to follow way.

This book has so much information on so many plants, I could keep myself easily entertained right up until mid-spring. Just in time for putting the information I learned into use!

I'm so happy to have bought this book, I am already looking into this author's past books on houseplants too.

I bought this book because i was just getting into gardening. I use it regularly to plan my border, as it has clear descriptions of the plants by genus, size, colour, and seasons they appear. I also find that children when they visit, love the photos of the plants and flowers.
I would reccomend if you or someone you are buying for, are starting to get into plants and flowers, and into gardening, this book is an excellent source for information. It has helped me plan what I buy in the way of plants - no more garden centre mistakes because i make a list of what I want to grow from seed or buy as plants, and this book enables me to do this.
Also, if a plant does not do well, this book describes for most plants, what conditions they need, so it can assist in problem solving, for the sucess of your garden.
Finally, when its deepest winter, I enjoy leafing through this book at the beautiful colour plates of flowers, remembering what the flowers of spring and summer look like!

The definitive guide
I had an old edition which I think was better than this updated one - as usual, what a publisher thinks is an improvement is really an update meant to boost sales.
