I would give this two and a half stars. I was seriously, really, disapointed when I got this. I've found better information other places. If you're a newbie, I recomend Scott Cunningham's Complete Book of Incence, Oils, and Brews (if you want help making something/learning a little about what goes into them), or Scott Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs.

I was given this book by someone who said they didn't want it any more. After a flick through, I thought I was starting to see why. There are a lot of fairly standard things missing, both in terms of ingredients and their uses. Better than nothing, but if you already have something, you will gain nothing from this.

This book contains Magickal uses for thousands of herbs, stones, colours, foods and so much more, and has been rather helpful in my Spellwork. I found a couple of entries a little dubious (my own opinion, as it's personal interpretation that really gives things their power in Magick), and found the book itself to be geared more towards the younger generation (possibly those considered "Fluffies") - but still found it a useful book to have.
I'd recommend it to those seeking new meanings for Magickal components, or those seeking Magickal components for their spellcraft needs.

I bought this book as I wanted a encyclopaedia of herbs/flowers/crystals which dealt with their magickal properties, as I needed help making gris-gris bags and incenses. This book is perfect!
It alphabetically goes through herbs, spices, flowers, vegetables, fruits, metals and general household objects, gives information on its ruler, it's magickal form (eg; oil, plant, mineral) and then a description of its magickal properties.
Towards the back on the book, there are magickal tables so you can quickly look up what ingredients to use in wealth spells, protection spells, love spells etc.
I prefer this book to some of Scott Cunningham's work as I find much of his writing very dated, old fashioned and in some cases totally irrelevant.

Wanted to be able to look up the properties of everyday items, without having to look online. This book is almost perfect, the only things missing from it are nuts, I assume due to possible allergies.

Clear simple and easy to find your way around. Nothing fancy, just what I needed. Not pretentious at all. Facts and lovely clear direction for spells.

good source for writing your own spells. But not exactly for writing them but picking what to use for your self written ones :)

Not a bad book, but some of the references are not quite correct - use in conjunction with further research from other sources - I found this interesting, but the knowledge I had already at times called this into question. Very Americanised.!!
Not a literal tool for use during practical work. :-))
